The best thing that has ever happened to me...
My husband and my children. Pure joy!!
I found this article today and this is the first I have heard of this!! I understand what they are thinking regarding saving the school districts money, but I want to know what parents will do when they have to either take off a day of work (therefore cutting their hours and income) or having to pay an extra full day of childcare each week (again, cutting their income). (And I am in no way equating school with childcare, but once a child enters school, parents usually do not have to rely on day care.) I think people are missing that point. Tax payers money fund schools anyway, so some of the taxpayers would get hit twice. I assume the schools would institute a "adventure club" kind of programs for Fridays or Mondays - whatever day they choose not to be in session, but if you live in Columbia, you know how expensive that is for parents.
Brodie has another ear infection. I took him to the doctor yesterday after not being able to shake a fever. His left ear is infected. I swear! Dillon never had an ear infection and Brodie has had two now. The one thing people don't tell you about having kids is...it is ALWAYS something.
As you may know, I had to go on a work trip. I left Sunday afternoon and got back late last night/ I missed my boys terribly bad! I think Dillon's vocabulary grew and Brodie just grew. Brodie is getting to be such a big boy! I cannot believe it. He is motoring along EVERYWHERE now. He is unstoppable. I was hanging out with D and B this afternoon and noticed another odd thing. Brodie is getting two more top teeth. That is a total of 6 people. He is 8 1/2 months old!!! There is one coming in on the bottom too, so that will put him to 7. When they are in, I am through feeding him baby food...he can eat table food.
I cannot even begin to tell you how much I am enjoying running again!! I'm still slow, but who cares.
I let Steve and my wonderful husband talk me into doing a hour long spinning class this morning. Steve taught it and assured me I could do it. Yep. I did it, but man it was hard! I should have worn my heart rate monitor...actually I am glad I did not. I am sure your heart should not beat that fast for a hour straight w/o it stopping! Did I mention I was out of shape? For heaven's sake, how long does it take to get back to some level of fitness???
Finally, got some interest in the Joe Biden story. Two years ago I went to DC for work. We have a Capitol Hill day where we meet with our legislators. Senator Bond's office gave us a tour of the Capitol the last day we were there. It rocked. The staff took us really cook places off the beaten path. It was a hot day up on the Hill, actually there was snow, but they had a role call vote and all the people were in the house!! (So to speak.) We were up in the gallery and saw most of them cast their votes. John Kerry looks like hell in real life. Anyway, we saw Hillary in the tunnels. She waved and said hi. We were on the elevator with my boy, John McCain. We rode the train through the tunnels and when we got off the train, Joe Biden came up to us and introduced himself and ask what brought us to DC. He had me at hello. He was an awesome guy to talk to and SUPER nice. I know we made a connection! ;-) Some day I will call in that favor!!
